but its teacher. Consequently, you need to be the kind of person who is dedicated in making a dog sociable and good natured, by sticking to routine whatever may come your way.

A German Shepherd Dog will want to be part of your family; long walks, mental and physical challenges and getting mucky are what it was born for. If you cannot put in time and effort, then a German Shepherd is not for you.

For the first time owner, once you own a German Shepherd, there will probably be no turning back. They are very addictive due to their loyalty and willingness to please!

If you would like a Trulywayside baby, please bear in mind we only wish for knowledgeable first class pet homes.

At Trulywayside, we strive for excellence in everything we do, particularly when it comes to bringing new lives into this world. Everything counts when rearing beautiful, healthy and well adjusted babies.

We meet all of the requirements and more of the Kennel Club Accredited Breeders Scheme and are members of several German Shepherd clubs to prove our dedication to the improvement of the breed.

We have been fortunate in placing our puppies in homes where they are cherished and loved for their whole lives. Many of our progeny have completed numerous KCGC Award’s with their owners and have been successful in fun agility, obedience and at conformation shows. We emphasize the great importance that when you attain a puppy, you do not only become its owner

big wide world waiting for them to explore. The three week stage is when puppies are expected to be the most stressed, however our babies seem to adjust superbly every time.

Through four weeks to eight weeks, our puppies spend increasingly more time out with us in our gardens relaxing and become part of the family. They have numerous visits from their new parents and are flourished with hugs and kisses. Daily checkups and weigh-ins are the norm, and each puppy has ''individual time'' for basic command training. The sound CD also becomes their favourite album to listen to! They all are at one with our pack of furry animals and enjoy cooing over our founder members (Misty & Tara!).

They discover big dogs, such as our horses and question how a dog has become that large. Each member goes on a car ride a few times so that the first ride home is not stressful. Everything is classed as play time, and even though we adore the excitement each puppy brings; it is very nice when it’s all quiet and they are snoozing!

Our puppies also undergo a Puppy Aptitude Test so that we have more insight into what owner suits them. They receive a health check, done by a trusted veterinary practice and are also micro-chipped and vaccinated at the same time, which goes very smoothly we must say. Each puppy takes this in their stride, and enjoys collecting compliment after compliment (well we know we do!). When it comes to the big day of leaving, numerous pictures are taken and the new owners seem to struggle fitting the puppy packs in the car, nearly forgetting the puppy itself!

As you can see, we try the best we possibly can when it comes to the future of Trulywayside.

The German Shepherd Breed is one so notably known for its versatility, so the perfect companion who is bomb proof, gentle and yet has the natural ability to work in numerous fields is what we strive for our dogs and puppies to be.

We do not want to bring animals into this world that do not have the instinctive drive and character of the breed, as a very laid back and lazy nature is not that of a German Shepherd. A dog that possesses aesthetic beauty, sound nature and the ability to work in obedience (as an example) is. A German Shepherd can have a beautiful nature with everything and everyone, yet still be able to complete intellectual tasks.

When our puppies take their first breath, we are there to take a record of their arrival and sooth them along with their mother. They are instantaneously named (by coloured collar) and become a member of our family. We never leave our girls alone when whelping and each puppy is treasured greatly by us. For the first two weeks of their lives, our puppies enjoy spending time with their mother and being held. They receive a daily check up and their collar changed, along with some puppy exercises. Most of the time they are being cooed over and also watched by our camera for the whole family to see.

At three weeks, the puppies face their biggest challenges yet. They move to a bigger haven, full of new smells, toys and blankets. They also take their first licks of real food, deciding which tastes better, mummy milk or puppy kibble? The puppies now start to master the ‘recall’ and learn their daily routine. Characteristics and personalities start to blossom and their brain waves are on over-drive as they realise there is a

Puppy management is something very dear to our hearts. We believe a puppy is everything what you make it. Therefore, it is in our best interests that our puppies leave us intelligent, confident and happy individuals on the right path to success with their new owners.

Even before our puppies are born, temperament, conformation and health of the parents is paramount so that our future generations are already benefiting from the fine genetics they descend from.

We hope this has given you a brief insight as to what we do with regards to puppy management.
